Launched in 2025, 'Raised by Writers' is an ongoing podcast project, hosted by Paul and featuring some of the very best children's writers  working in literature today.

In each episode Paul asks authors to choose three books that they read themselves as children. Together, they try to unravel the unanswerable question. 

​

"Were you drawn to these books because you identified with the characters? Or did you become the writer you are as a result of reading these books?"

​

Spoiler - no-one has managed to nail it down yet if its one or the other.

Each episode also features a teacher recommendation from their youth and a delve into the brilliant 'Read for Empathy' collection - which is collated each year by the fantastic team at EmpathyLab
